Allied Carpets is one of the leading carpet retailers in the UK with 215 trading stores. The company is wholly owned by the French conglomerate Tapis Saint Maclou who are the largest carpet retailer in Europe, trading in France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. During the year ending 31 December 2006, Allied Carpets plc had a turnover in excess of £194 million.

The company has an ongoing expansion and store repositioning programme aimed at acquiring new stores, rightsizing or relocating existing stores to suit their preferred trading format and disposing of surplus accommodation.

The new store criteria are:-

• size range 5,000 to 10,000 sq ft;
• retail parks or roadside locations; and
• towns across the UK with a population of in excess of 20,000.

Wilkinson Williams is solely retained to advise Allied Carpets on their retail warehouse expansion, relocation and disposal programmes in England and Wales.
