Wilkinson Williams advised Allied Carpets on a portfolio wide review and advised that the client would be facing a significant increase in rent at the forthcoming review, which was to circa £185,000 per annum, which was deemed unsustainable.
Wilkinson Williams were instructed to identify suitable relocation sites and introduced a smaller unit in the vicinity of the existing store, where terms were agreed at a rent of £85,000 per annum, representing a saving of £100,000 per annum.
Wilkinson Williams subsequently negotiated a surrender of Allied Carpets' existing leasehold interest in return for a premium of £800,000.
